from Wikipedia

As of April 2008, the Freewinds has been sealed, and work stopped on refurbishments, due to "extensive contamination" with blue asbestos.[6]

Anyone know anything about this? The reports say the ship is heavily contaminated with asbestos.

Considering when it was built, it makes sense.

I suppose now we will end up with a rash of posts from the Scientologists about howw everyone lived in close quarters for years and didnt get cancer?

An article I read said the latency period is up to 40 years, and it is one of the most aggressive cancers, killing within 1 year from diagnosis.

Article about the ship being sealed:

The original article announcing what happened to the Freewinds appeared in the Daily Herald of Willemstad, Curacao. I've seen the a photograph of the article, but the Daily Herald never posted it through their own means.

Hmmm that means they can still make the claim and we have to wait... how many years before we can prove them wrong?

CofS knew about the blue asbestos for years and years. The effects of asbestos have been known about for decades. CofS never did anything about it of their own free will.

Lawrence Woodcraft, an ex Sea Org member, attested to this information when he left several years ago.
