Hi,

I have noticed that a lot of African religions contain an element of shaminism.  Not just the obvious examples of the Khoisan, but also the polytheistic West African traditions--at least in their practices.  Shaminism is an approach to spirituality in which a cathartic form of chanting or singing occurs in conjunction with a certain dynamic focus such as dancing, or a story of some sort.  In terms of West African originated traditions,  I see the drumming and dancing as a type of focal point for the meditative state that shamanism brings.  Yes, its a bit abbreviated in these manifestations.  But I can still see it.  Any thoughts to the contrary?  Supporting?
