Hey there fellow beliefnet members. I wanted to know if any of you have read books based on Demonology and if so, which ones would you recommend. I am doing a project and need books based on Archangels, Demons, Satan, etc. I would appreciate it if you'd share a couple of good books for me to read. Thank you.

Aren't demons fallen angels and the more stronger ones devils? And aren't some demons rage, past unresolved issues, murder, skeletons in the closet, voices in your head that mess with you or tell you to do bad and etc..and bad thoughts like temptation, for instance, and can be categorized as demons or devils? |

Okay, while I'd normally say if you wanted to learn about demons and whatnot, I'd say open a mythology book on early near-eastern religions, (the Sumerians for example), you're interested in Christian demonology and Angeology. Here's what I found for Christian Demonology: Granted, its a wiki article, but it's got literary links and sources for you to browse through Another source. And another one As for Christian angelology, this seemed to get a good review: Dictionary of Angels: Including Fallen Angels Happy hunting. |

What demons are depends on the religion you're referencing. Earlier religions, like that of the Sumerians saw them as more inline with the notion of a powerful being that could be good, bad, or indifferent, but usually worked to carry out the bidding of the gods. Romans who actually had the term, daemon, usually saw them as servants of gods as well, but also often as irritating spirits too. Early Hinduism offers a wide array of demons, such as the tiger demons known as Raksaha, but while they usually were evil, not all were. In terms of power, its like comparing apples and oranges. You have ashuras and Ravana on the deific scale in terms of power whereas you have rabushas of the Sumerian religion as weak guardians of holy temples. It all depends on how the cosmology of the religion you are referencing views demons and angels (assuming it has a clear dividing line of some kind between the two), and spirits and gods. |

I think what really matters the most though is that no matter what religion, the point is that they do exist and are bad.

Calvin: I think angels are everywhere.
Hobbes: You do? Calvin: They're on calendars, books, greeting cards... almost every product imaginable. Hobbes: What a spiritual age we live in. |

Dark Energy. It can be found in the observable Universe. Found in ratios of 75% more than any other substance. Dark Energy. It can be found in religious extremists, in cheerleaders. To come to the conclusion that Dark signifies mean and malevolent would define 75% of the Universe as an evil force. Alternatively, to think that some cheerleaders don't have razors in their snatch is to be foolishly unarmed.
Powerful? Yes. Bad? Depends on you POV. Is a tiger bad when it eats you because you grab its tail?
So exposing one's tactics and bringing them to light so they get mad and harm you physically , mentally, and ulimatley spiritually, makes demons in the right when you do nothing to physically harm them? Nor can you for that matter? Don't think so. |

Demons exist only if you believe in them.
