I want a National Day of sitting on my arse and doing nothing, while the kids remain quiet the entire time. What do you think my odds are? |

If or when you answer the question I asked, I will answer the question you asked.

The question you asked is essentially a false dilemma. There's no reason we can't -- either as individuals or collectively -- have both. Or, as individuals, either pick the one we each like best. Or, as Ken suggested, simply ignore the entire concept, because participation isn't forced or mandatory. Me, personally -- I'm a reasonable person who also prays every day anyway. Again, it's a false dilemma, as far as I'm concerned. I've never seen any conflict between reason and active faith anyway. As to my question -- considering the odds of my wife letting me sit on my arse all day long and the kids being quiet.. well... |

I yearn for the time when every day is a national day of reason. |

This. There is no rational for a national day of prayer and it is and will always be an intentionally discriminatory event. Not only to those who do not believe but those who do not find public prayer or any prayer appropriate as well as those who actually honour your consitution. |
