Retired Lieutenant General William G. :Jerry" Boylin has been invited to speak at a West Point prayer breakfast. General Boykin is known for anti-Islamic statements such as the United States should ban mosques Link 1, Islam should not be a protected by the First Amendment Link 2, there can be no interfaith dialogue between Muslims and Christians Link 3, He has also made comments such as, "George Bush was not elected by a majority of the voters in the United States. He was appointed by God." Link 4, and that President Obama was using the Health care act to build an army of browshirts loyal only to him. Link 5.
There are Muslim cadets at West Point and the last thing they need is to have to listen to an Islamophobic bigot criticize their religion and proselytize for Christianity. Such a prayer breakfast at military institutions are supposed to be non-sectarian, and General Boykin is anything but.
"The right of voting for representatives is the primary right by which other rights are protected. To take away this right is to reduce a man to slavery, for slavery consists in being subject to the will of another, and he that has not a vote in the election of representatives is in this case." -- Thomas Paine: First Principles of Government (1995)
