As luck would have it --- and per the process of cultural diffusion --- Gautama Buddha is a Roman Catholic saint.  His name was added to the "Roman Martyrology" and his feast day is Nov. 27.  Surprised

Christians adopted from other religions spiritual teachers, icons, and practices, and called them their own?Surprised

Even if Sidhartha Gautama lived centuries before Christ, and his message was being promulgated before Apostle's were appointed, how do we know that there wasn't a Christian saint whose personal narrative followed an identical path of the Buddhas'?  Laughing

We should give the benefit of the doubt to our own religion because ours is the Truth and the others are clearly not the Truth (and we know that the devil is always trying to create doubts) .  For that matter, why should we believe that Roman Empire's State religion has anything to do with later Christian proclamations of Jesus being "King of kings and Lord of lords", "Savior", born of a virgin, and "the son of God"? Wink

Horrific heresy !!!  That great biblical scholar and theologian, (the very late) Rev. Jerry Falwell taught the one truth from his God-given, heaven-dropped, red-letter KJV --- which is --- if y'all t'ain't baptosubmerged and accepted Jay-zuz, y'all goin ta hail !!!

Every Christian belief and practice was created by God in the Kingdom of Pie-In-The-Sky, and delivered to Jay-zuz by the Magi.

Exactly the same, right down to having a father who was a Nepalese tribal chief, Brahmanistic Hindu, and who accepted Jay-zuz while meditating under a Bo tree.

Right on, bro.   Satan is the "great counterfeiter" and master prestigitator.  Harry Houdini ain't got nuttin on Old Nick.

Or that the early Church adopted its diocesan organization from the Roman state !!!
