Hi! I just joined this site because I have a few questions regarding the Episcopal Church of America. I am a "cradle-Catholic" or whatever (I was raised Catholic and go to a Catholic school and have my whole life blah blah blah...) Recently, I've felt absolutely trapped by my faith, and the Episcopal Church of America seems like the right match for me. (Obviously, I can't convert for a while since I'm only sixteen, but...) So I have a few questions...
Is the Episcopal Church generally more pro-life or pro-choice, or do they let you decide yourself?
Is the sacrament of Confession offered on a regular basis?
Are homosexual unions widely accepted, or just by a few parishes?
Do you have to be married in the Church for it to count?
What is their view on...well, sex outside of marriage...
Thanks bunches!! Oh, and please don't judge me... I know a lot of extremist-Catholics aren't too fond of the Episcopal Church, or any other denomonation for that matter, and I'm not sure if you guys are like that with other denomonations, too.
Oh, and sorry if I spelled any words wrong. My spell checker didn't show up!! ><

Welcome and thank your for dropping by and asking a few questions. I was baptized, confirmed RC and went to RC parochial schools. I felt suffocated by the RCC and later joined the Episcopal Church. It was the right decision for me. So I have a few questions...
Great ! The Episcopal Church --- which we abbreviate TEC --- encourages questioning, so you're off to a good start.

The linked article will answer your question directly.
Is the sacrament of Confession offered on a regular basis?
Both private - "auricular" and general confession are offered regularly..
Are homosexual unions widely accepted, or just by a few parishes?
Monogamous, faithful, loving unions between same sex couples are controversial but increasingly accepted in TEC.
Do you have to be married in the Church for it to count?
I don't understand the question. What is the "it" that is supposed to count?
What is their view on...well, sex outside of marriage..
It's not the ideal but it's not the end of the world either. We see the RCC as bent out of shape paranoid and consumed by the idea of sex. We take it a bit more calmly. Sex is most properly located within marriage and one should strive toward that ideal. If one slips along the way, no-one is perfect; the sky hasn't fallen in.

A lot of us TECies are XRCs, so we know the score. We have a live and let live attitude toward other religions. Life is too short to get all hot & sweaty about other people's belief systems. The claim that we are "the one true and only church" is foreign to us; it is foreign to any thinking person.
