Whatever leverage this man had I believe it is gone. He shouldn't even be allowed to continue to be a priest due to this threat. All this does is make Anglicanism look just that much more of a joke, especially how we put our tails between our legs with this Ordinate deal. I'm surprised The Lead hasn't covered this one yet.

It's a civil rights issue. Just like marriage here. Rowan violated his own church's policies. Not to mention law. But of course it is an LGBTQ issue which raises certain prejudiced hackles here.

GRo,

Rev.Dr.Jeff John is actually a first-rate theologan and pastoral cleric --- a fine but rare combo.  He's highly qualified for the episcopate.  He was, on a prior occasion, a candidate for bishop but Fuzzy torpedoed John's candidacy in the name of "unity"  --- rather than supporting it as an act of Christian ethics.

OTOH, while I commisserate with Dr. John's frustration, I do very much wish he'd keep his understandable pique out of the press.  The yellow journalists and scandal mongers just love this sort of ecclesial spat.  There's a time to exercise discretion, and this is the time.

Otherwise, he ends up looking like

No one has a right to be ordained.  No one has a right to any sacraments. My priest could have told us no if he felt it was right to do so.

So I've heard. But he's acting like a first rate child that didn't get his way. Very unbecoming of his vows to if you ask me.

Read what I said. And besides, nobody knows who released this information. It may be meant to harm him.

I read it, and I still stand by what I said. No one has a right to any sacraments. Ordination is a sacrament.  As far as the information goes, it's not like it came from a partisan website. This article was dated the 14th of this month. If it isn't him, he has a duty to come out and say it isn't, because this looks very bad.

"Judge not according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment."-John 7:24

We as Christians are supposed to call out what's right and what's wrong. Scripture doesn't ban judging those who profess to be believers. Jesus took issue to people who were hypocrites, calling someone out on things they themselves were doing. He never said not to call a spade a spade if we were in the right to do so. People need to stop getting that mixed up.

The grace of God or for that matter, His mercy  is wholly undeserved.

If we all got what we deserved, it would be eternally and unbearably unpleasant.

No body "deserves" any means of Grace, sacraments included.  To lay claim onto the things of God by right is most presumptuous.

For those who have faith, no explanation is neccessary.
For those who have no faith, no explanation is possible.

St. Thomas Aquinas

If one turns his ear from hearing the Law, even his prayer is an abomination. Proverbs 28:9
