Pneumonia has taken Christopher Hitchens, who died in Houston. I'm sorry to see him go, but I am invigorated that such a human being was here. Hitch was a fighter. He didn't give in to the nonsense. He stood his ground. And in standing his ground, he made use of the most wicked and wonderful wit. Again and again, Hitchens would debate the great pretenders and send them packing.
He was the epitome of the free thinker who is comfortable in his own skin, willing and able to express his convictions - and defend them against all takers.
He will be missed. And then he'll be studied and emulated.
I'm glad somebody added another reply. Nothing says this place is dead quite like the death of someone like Hitch - and the almost complete absence of discussion about it.
