It's already been in the works for a while. I doubt very seriously if a lot of those who left TEC would even find this deal worth anything, I know I don't find it appealing in the least. We have our own issues sure enough, but them, they're in a category all on their own. I'll stick it out here.

Thus far the response to the "ordinairate", both in the USA and the UK, has been stunningly minimal.   The flow of RCs is in the direction of Out of that church and usually  into lapsism, although a significant number end up in TEC.  This point is usually not made in the popular media.

The previous and current Bishops of Rome have appealed to reactionaries to connect with the Vatican.  Rome is making serious overtures to the Pius 10th. group which is extremely right wing.  Now the Vatican is trying to vacuum-up the retrogressive Anglicans.

The RCC is a pit of corruption.  There's the world-wide sex scandal with official coverup; the Magdaline Girls' Institution scandal in Ireland; the corruption of the Vatican Bank; the Legionaires of Christ / Fr. Maciel scandal.  How any right-minded Anglican --- any right-minded anybody --- could connect with that den of vipers is utterly beyond my ken.

Vatican - 2 is dead and decomposing.  A Dark Age autocracy has settled into Rome.  Anyone who wants to enter that bog is welcomed to do so.

Thanks for asking, Dutch.  I am still working on getting my Masters in Theology from the Roman seminary in town that I attended for several years.  I should have completed all of my comprehensive exams by this time next year. After that, I plan to (with the approval of our bishop and standing committee, of course) take one year of Anglican studies. I'm on the vestry at my parish, so I'm seeing that side of parish life.  I continue as thurifer and reader, as well.  I'll be teaching a few classes on the liturgical year, soon.  I sort of want to move to a more progressive area of the country, but I will probably start the process here. I hope that you are well, friend.

Glad to know that you are still on your path to ordination, Leo!!

How about Houston? Some similarities to New Orleans but more progressive pockets, too.

(I realize Houston isn't really on most people's "places to move" list, but living here is actually better than the bad PR would predict!)

Thank you, Joan.

MsTopaz, I also want to escape the strangling heat. I haven't ruled out any place, though. Thanks for the advice.
