A New Year’s Prayer
presented at All Souls Unitarian Miami
January 8, 2012
Be strong for us
Aid us when we stumble
Let the Spirit give us delight
Our savior protects us
Our prayers and words are heard
We are given both freedom and love
In return we share our love
We share the words placed in our heart
The mind forms words suitable to our time
We approach you as children
We are feed with the milk of knowledge
We are given both freedom and love
Grant us a full and worthy life
Guide us in the sacred path
We will do our best to live right
With simple hearts we call
We wait to learn the proper way
Freedom and love surrounds us
Be gracious to us as we learn
Let the Spirit fill us with happiness
We feel secure in our belief
Help us to see what is true and good
Let us find comfort as children and friends
Knowing your love comforts the heart and mind
You give our bodies strength
You have given us a voice
You are the One who gives life
You hold providence at bay
You have given us many sacred teachings
Let us know you fully as Father and friend
Let our hearts and minds be nobly formed
Let us listen to the prudent sages
We know you are fair to all your children
Let there be no secrets between us
Let us openly declare our love
May we always feel your loving presence
Remove from us the oppressive and false
Place the yoke of love upon our shoulders
Let the Spirit guide our steps on the way
