There is probably a group for pagan beliefs. You probably won't find too many pagans here.

Yes, go ask the Pagans, not us.

Dio: "Question for pagans, do pagans believe they can get gods to do what they want by worship and offerings?" Dio knows damn well that there is a board for Pagans.

Eh. Dio doesn't want to talk to us. Not really.
Dark Energy. It can be found in the observable Universe. Found in ratios of 75% more than any other substance. Dark Energy. It can be found in religious extremists, in cheerleaders. To come to the conclusion that Dark signifies mean and malevolent would define 75% of the Universe as an evil force. Alternatively, to think that some cheerleaders don't have razors in their snatch is to be foolishly unarmed.

So when you want to start a dialogue with Hinuds, do you post in the Muslim forum?

Question for pagans, do pagans believe they can get gods to do what they want by worship and offerings?
I'm guessing this was posted somewhere else prior to being moved to the discus Paganism board, but I suppose I can offer my answer. No. I give offerings based on the contractual nature of pre-Christian (and arguably early Christianized as well) Irish religion and society. The concept of this model is based on the idea of reciprocity and hospitality. It is a way in which one can honour the gods, ancestors and good folk which is attested to in the mythological narratives and numerous folk traditions. The idea that offering something to the gods will force them into aiding someone is a foreign concept, from my perspective. There are certainly "laws" which govern the reciprocal nature of hospitality, and it is certainly better to be openhanded than closefisted, but there isn't anything in my tradition which states that offering to a deity will make them your slave, or even put them in your debt.
