Scientists are reporting a major advance in diagnosing tuberculosis: A new test can reveal in less than two hours, with very high accuracy, whether someone has the disease and if it's resistant to the main drug for treating it.

The test could revolutionize TB care and replace the 125-year-old process used now, which is slow and misses more than half of all cases, experts say. A better test would be a powerful tool to curb TB in poor countries, where most people spread the lung disease before they are diagnosed and treated, and many don't return for follow-up doctor visits to get test results. Great news. Though the information on the TB care process being a century and a quarter old, is shocking I must admit. Especially considering TB is airborne infection.

There hasn't been a single "cure" in about 75 years.  At best, modern medicine controls disease.  Dr. Oz is shocked that he had a precancerous colon polyp even though he did "all" the right things.  What Dr. Oz doesn't realize is that not everything is figured out yet.  Genes bite and we are only beginning to understand how they work.  My mother is 87 and did all the wrong things and never had a precancerous polyp.  One day, we will understand why.  There is much more that is not known than is known.

If we didn't waste so much world's time, resources and energy on war,  we would have more answers to these questions.

TB is not unique.

When I think of Oz, I think of an Oprah creature creation.

But there's more profit in war, than there is in finding cures and better medicine so as to help more people, to live longer.
