The word "dragon" appears 31 times in the KJV.

12 of those references appear in the Book of Revelation alone and are symbolic of the devil.

The rest are are in the Old Testament and appear to be referring to literal creatures. The one exception is the symbolic reference to Egypt in Ezekiel.

When you hear the word, "dragon" what image does that word conjure up in your mind? To me it's a very large reptile, sometimes with wings and sometimes breathing fire.

In Job chapter 38-41 God finally answers Job with a barrage of questions which  Job cannot answer. In these chapters, God mentions Leviathan and Behemoth, two fantasticly large and powerful creatures. Leviathan is described as an enormous marine reptile and Behemoth is a massive creature which swings its tail like a cedar. The world's largest mammals do not have tails like a cedar tree.

But dinosaurs do especially the large herbivores. Could the Bible be speaking of dinosaurs?

"Could the Bible be speaking of dinosaurs?"

Possibly.

"Here are some facts about Dragons:

1) Not all Dragons were large terrifying creatures, some were quite small.

2) Not all Dragons had wings or could fly. Many dragons were wingless creatures.

3) Not all Dragons could emit fire, as shown in today's paintings of them.

4) Dragons were Not mythical creatures. But rather real animals with a strong foundation in reality.

I believe that the Biblical "dragons" are actually Dinosaurs."

Why couldn't there have been a few left on the earth just as the historical period was beginning, lurking in areas remote from where the knowledge of writing existed?  Reports could have come into Sumeria from nomads or a wild "Enkidu" and written down somewhere in a lost book, whose contents then have seeped into tellings placed into the Old Testament.

It's a labored speculation, but still fun.  A dinosaur species that survived the cataclysm (asteroid or otherwise) would only have had homo sapiens as a formidable enough enemy to drive it from existence, and the difficulty of this would only be increased with marine dinosaurs like the elasmosaur (think Loch Ness).
