I think your idea is very close to mine. I feel there are higher standards of decency, equity and justice to which all moral beings, God included, are subject. The fact that God creates different standards of good and evil for himself and his subjects demonstrates that God is inequitable, and not a worthy arbiter of good and evil.
Thanks, guys. I'm always trying to find better ways to describe Maltheism, or more accurately in my case, Dystheism.
Yes, I agree that, ultimately, it is all God . . . good or bad. I never understood that dichotomy that, if it was good, it was from God, but if it was bad, it was either from Satan or the result of humans' free will. If God is truly omnipotent, then God trumps either of those. So, in the end, it is still from God simply by nature of God's "non-objection" to allowing it to happen.
Btw, what "Divine Inspiration" led to this latest incarnation of Bnet?
*in my best "church lady" voice* Could it be . . . Satan? ;)

"The best thing you can do for the world is make the most of yourself." -- Wallace D. Wattles
You made me laugh. The church lady was one of my favorite characters on Saturday Night Live. It will take me some time to get used to this change. I am going to have to fool around with preferences to see if I can make it more to my liking. I am confused by the fact the most recent post appears to be at the top of the screen. There is not much to maltheism except the belief that God is bad. Everything else I think is just the opinion of the individual, there is no doctrine. Paul, the late founder of the maltheism forum. Believed that you could kill God by starving him of worship. For me, just acknowledging that God is not personally concerned about my welfare, nor is he good has been very helpful and healing. It caused a lot of emotional disturbance for me to believe one thing then see the reality was completely different. It is really crazy making to be told prayers are answered, but when you continually pray for an end to constant violence......nothing happens, but more violence. God personally cares about your welfare, but doesn't stop a rapists from repeatedly raping you for 4 years.....doesn't stop someone from beating, choking, and smearing your face in your own urine and feces...can't even get your church interested in providing some compassion and/or protection. The pastor's answer to your reports of voilence is to instruct you to pray harder, study the bible more, strive to forgive the criminals and strive to be a perfect christian. My favorite thing about maltheism forum is being able to say to other people "You know, I doubt God is good. I don't see any evidence that what good god believers are saying is true." I can say it here and not be attacked. I can say it and get acknowledgement that the statement God is good is fishy.
