The following is my view of Eckankar.  The views presented are mine and not those of Eckankar.  This is important to state as I have adapted Eckankar to me.

Eckankar is a modernized system.  Modernized from the Surat Shabd yoga.  The Sant Mat.  Eckankar is more tuned to the fast pace of U.S. culture.   Eckankar provides a system that encompasses a range of experiences centering on the return home to the Ocean of Love and Mercy from which soul started this journey.  The Living Eck Master is alive in the physical and is the symbolic representative of the Inner Master that each soul comes to realize is available for instruction at all times.  Soul is because of God's love for it. 

Why Eckankar?  It is the path that have brought experiences while in the physical (and not) that are new and without empirical explanation.
