Happy Sabbath all.
Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
Gen 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
All praise and glory to the highest - JESUS - Lord of the Sabbath.

We had our 100th anniversary today---1908 to 2008! It was a high Sabbath indeed! There was a huge lasagne dinner in the school auditorium and there must have been at least 250 people there! The choir sang Angel's Carol and I helped run the sound board. The main theme of the day was the second coming of Jesus. God bless and hope you had a great Sabbath, SDG :)

I didn't know you had a daughter, Andrew, how old is she? I bet she's really cute! I have two sons, but they're all grown up and one has his own family now, and the other son (my youngest) is getting married in March. :)

Given that Christmas is considered a Holy Day of Obligation for the Roman Catholics, was brought into existence by the Roman Catholics and filled with pagan symbols, how do either of you justify any celebration of it whatsoever? Wouldn't that be a kin to "following after the beast"?
born. Around 336 AD, the Roman Catholic Church chose December 25 as the day for the Feast of the Nativity in order to give Christian meaning to existing pagan rituals of the winter solstice.
Encarta Encyclopedia on line

That would depend on the way you celebrate it, VG. we don't have a church service on December 25 unless it falls on the Sabbath. None oif us consider it an "obligation" It is more like celebrating the birthday of a dear member of the family, and since no one knows Jesus' real birthday, December 25 is no worse than any other.

Psa 104:35 Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the LORD, O my soul. Praise ye the LORD.
Rather hot scripture from God's word I would say.

No. Jesus is the reason for the season, ever heard that song? it is true. Jesus is the only reason why Christmans is celebrated. know why? because he died for our sins, and if he didnt, we'd all be dead right now. So if we celebrate Christmans, it is not becaus of what any Catholic or agan did, it is because of what jesus did. And it is a time for family and friends to gether, to celebrate the gift of giving, and love. following after the beast is to follow the popular opinions of man when it conflicts with the Bible, like to follow deno inations that have doctrinal error which is based off of one verse when there are 5 or 6 more verses that clear that verse up and are consistent with the bible and its teachngs. So folowing after the beast would be that, after being convicted of truth, inthe bible, and following that eror because it is what you've always done, who is there, and how easy and popular it is. But of course, it is optional. Like spud said, we would only celebrate it together if it was on dec. 25th, on a sabbath, in which, of course, our work and pleasures would not be thought of. if one in the SDa congregation doesn't want to celeebrate it, that is perfectly fine.
I'm not saying what you said is stupid, either, because I do know of the pagan roots and origin, which got baptised by the Roman catholic church, along with idol worship and pagan symbols, etc..... It is a good question. But if we are to clelbrate it, we shoud know that isnt the day Jesus was born, as is thought.
