They are arranged in such a manner so as to provide easy access to each topic for research and study. As you read and study, it is likely that questions will arise that will need further explanation and/or clarification. Please feel free to address these questions on the appropriate discussion forum (Welcome---to  SDA(create a topic) or the Discus----SDA). Luke 24:27 and 44 are scriptures that set the tone for study of the Bible. It is through the use of scripture that our Lord opened to HIS disciples the reason for HIM coming to earth, HIS plan of salvation and what their role would be in spreading the good news of the gospel message throughout the world.

. Many people do not understand that the Bible is an entire and complete book, rather than being divided into two distinct parts. Quite often it is heard, "the Old Testament was before Christ and no longer applicable" or "that only the New Testament provides Christians a rule and guide for the spiritual conduct of their lives" There are some who even think that God in the Old Testament is of a different character than that of our Lord Jesus Christ in the New Testament

The solid foundation which establishes the correlation of the Old and New Testament is the many prophecies in the Old Testament which pointed to a coming Messiah. Then when Christ came to this earth in human form, His life, death and resurrection fulfilled that which the Old Testament had foretold. The Old Testament is the basis for all truths, and sets the standard that governs our relationship with God and our fellowman. The Old Testament laws, commandments and ordinances are clear in their application, but through misunderstandings, misinterpretations and heathen practices that were contrary to God’s laws, man made additional laws, becoming traditions. Over a period of time, they were accepted as truths. These ‘traditions of men’ were pointed out many times by Jesus during His ministry as recorded in the New Testament.

The Old Testament is not complete without the New Testament, and the New Testament is not complete without the Old Testament. The Old Testament is the basis for the New Testament, while the New Testament explains what was not understood in the Old Testament. They blend perfectly, complementing one another through the correlation of Old and New Testament scriptures that relate to prophecies, creation and a coming Messiah. Throughout the Bible there is an underlying and foundational theme of Jesus Christ, the Messiah, our Lord and Savior, that is evident from Genesis to Revelation.

The Bible contains the basis for the civil laws that are laws in many countries throughout the world. The Bible contains the Ten Commandments, which is God’s law. God's word can be trusted, and is the only document or book that we can hold in our hands that can be read and studied that provides us with the truth.

Our Intent and Goal in the articles to follow is to give the biblical basis and reason for our Official Seventh-Day Adventist Beliefs
, care has been taken to insure that these studies are in complete accord with the summary of those beliefs as posted on the the official Seventh-day Adventist website. In many of the studies to follow you will find our fundamental beliefs posted at the beginning, with added scriptural references furnished in support of them.

The following is in essence a quote which was published in the Adventist Review and Herald, 1872, to explain why it was necessary to publish a summary of their doctrines and beliefs. It remains true today and further explains our purpose and goal here:

In presenting to the public this synopsis of our faith, we wish to have it distinctly understood that we have no articles of faith, creed, or discipline, aside from the Bible. We do not put forth this as having any authority with our people, nor is it designed to secure uniformity among them, as a system of faith, but is a brief statement of what is, and has been, with great unanimity, held by them. We often find it necessary to meet inquiries on this subject, and sometimes to correct false statements circulated against us, and to remove erroneous impressions, which have obtained with those who have not had an opportunity to become acquainted with our faith and practice. Our only object is to meet this necessity.

As Seventh-day Adventists, we desire simply that our position shall be understood and we are the more solicitous for this because there are many who call themselves Christians who hold views with which we can have no sympathy, some of which, we think, are subversive of the plainest and most important principles set forth in the word of God. As compared with other Christians, Seventh-day Adventists differ from one class in believing in the unconscious state of the dead, and the final destruction of the unrepentant wicked; from another, in believing in the perpetuity of the law of God as summarily contained in the ten commandments, in the operation of the Holy Spirit in the church, and in setting no times for the second coming to occur; from all, in the observance of the seventh day of the week as the Sabbath of the Lord, and in many applications the prophetic scriptures.

With these remarks, we ask the attention of the reader to the following propositions, which aim to be a concise statement of the more prominent features of our faith.

Peace,   Sincerly.      As long as sin is practiced, one will search for a means to validate the continuing therein. ANON

The greatest want of the world is the want of men--men who will not be bought or sold, men who in their inmost souls are true and honest, men who do not fear to call sin by its right name, men whose conscience is as true to duty as the needle to the pole, men who will stand for the right though the heavens fall.---- ANON  (Ellen G. White. 1882)
