Well, this is new to me.  Though I've been on Beliefnet for quite some time, I just recently began looking around in any depth.  I had never heard of Maltheism before tonight, when it was referenced in a section "5 beliefs you've never heard of."  Or something like that.  I always had considered myself an Atheist (Madalyn Murray O'Hair variety), very hostile to any idea of religion.  A Hindu friend once referred to me, to her parents, as a "Scientist" (Since Hinduism has about 3.14159 million gods & goddesses, I don't guess that "Atheist" translates very well).  I kinda liked that...Scientist.  Had a nice ring.  Anyway my tendency softened more toward an Agnostic pattern eventually, since I felt it just as arrogant to say I knew there was no god as to say I know there IS a god, and I know which one, mine, and everyone else's is wrong.  Well, we all know how that goes.   A few years back, though, I determined that I suffer from alcoholism, and decided to go to AA.  Oh, whoopsie!  Gotta find a "Higher Power."  So, I thought I had given up even thinking about all this folderol.  But, no sense in being completely closed-minded, so I tried to read the Bible (made it up to Numbers, what a dry read).  Read extensively about Buddhism (which was and is still attractive).  And, of course, wandered Beliefnet (which led me to the Unitarian Universalist Church (which also was and is attractive).  Among my many readings, I found something closer to what I believed, and that was Manichaeism.  In short form, it describes god as a duality of good and evil powers.  Now we were getting somewhere.  I wasn't about to let a supposedly perfect god off the hook for all the evil in the world if I was going to give him/her credit for the good.  I just figured that a god that created this world may have to be respected, but was hardly deserving of worship.  So, now I find y'all.  If you're around, I'd love commentary and discussion.  Thanks in advance.

Not to seem uncaring, but the new Bnet format and other concerns have decimated this group. As far as I can tell, I'm the last one left, and I have been unable to contact any of the old regulars.

I totally understand your present spiritual condition.

I do happen to agree with manacheism in many ways and find it simular to malthiesm as I see it.  This board pretty much died when they changed things. hopefully we might be able to get things going again soon.

Been doing some posting in a couple other boards where the posts pointed to needing a maltheist perspective. perhaps we can get others here by pointing out the maltheistic options in other areas on beliefnet.

Point me to em. Odd as it may seem, I sometimes have an almost evangelical impulse to tell people about my belief, just because it feels so right to me.

I have been obsessed with learning my new job.  Yeah!  I passed my probation.  Boo! They had a huge budget cut.  They are freezing hiring.  So we are going to be very short handed for a while.  We lost a lot of people to attrition.  Good because I may not be laid off because we are short handed, but we have been hit so hard with a large budget cut that I might still be laid off.  I am further obsessed and exhausted by building a house by the sweat of our own brow.  I can only work weekends and holidays on the house because of my work hours, so that has left me little time for internet posting.  We are not working on the house this weekend because we are flying with my husband's parents to Japan Sunday night thus I may not post here again till October 1st.  I still think of my fellow maltheists every day.  When the house is finally done and I have moved in and got my internet reconnected.  I will probably post here a lot more.....LOL especially if I end up unemployed again.

I'm not dead.

I was scrolling through some of the other topics. Fox News bought this site? Yeah, we're screwed. I'm surprised the Christ-fascists haven't already descended upon us. If I don't post on here for a while, and we get some kind of new forum or place, PLEASE email me to let me know. You can do this at angryjerk-AT-angryjerk.net, replacing the "-AT-" with the "@" symbol of course.

Don't bother viewing the site associated with my email. It's my satire site, and will probably offend some of you, which is not my intent.
