Any type of tree. I would spend all day every day planting tree's if I could. I'm not big on fruit tree's because they are so high maintainence. We had a major fire blight outbreak last year and I had a terrible time keeping my apple tree's at the house I used to rent alive. I think I saved them, but not before hacking off most of their branches...

I plant things that are tolerant of where I live; Santa Barbara daiseys have always been a favorite. (They spill over the edge and are self-sewing.)
Also cosmos - which are self sewing (and attract little yellow birds that eat the seeds.) |

My first favortite would be the ones I can't have. Lilacs. They don't grow here in Zone 8. Too hot. I had them in OH. Now I'll say Blueberries.

Marcyy, your gardens are gorgeous. I'm jealous - I wish I had more time to garden. My yard is in need of some serious TLC. The favorite plant I currently have is my rosemary - it smells fantastic, is useful, and is super low maintenence. My all time favorite is Plumeria, but it dosen't grow well in North Texas.

I love Oak, Maple and Gingko trees, and all bright annuals, but the Saguaro cactus is my all-time favorite because they have such personality.
