As most gardeners know something to take into consideration, when deciding on what to plant in your garden, the amount of sunlight the area receives should be taken into consideration. I was reminded of this last year after I planted heuchera in the front bed.
This probably would have been alright if we didn't then ask a tree surgeon to prune back branches from the very large maple tree next door. Said branches were overtaking and brushing up against a very large area of our roof.
We were advised that pruning the tree would allow for more sunlight to reach the lawn, not necessarily a bad thing as the grass did then grow somewhat better. The huechera however were very unhappy and after the cool days of spring were past and summer was in full swing, they burned. Another lesson learned.
