Although a number of journalists have encouraged Brit Hume to apologize for publicly stating that Tiger Woods should turn from Buddhism to Christianity, he is standing by his televised religious advice.
As someone who passionately defends each person's spiritual path, I am among the people who took offense to Hume's comment. But in the spirit of forgiveness and redemption, I’d like to make three points about Hume’s firm decision to defend words that have angered a lot of people.

If December 2012 turns out to be a perfectly normal and uneventful month, will some people be disappointed? Will those holding "The End Is Near" signs simply put them down, while 2012 bloggers quietly stop typing warnings of imminent doom? One thing is clear: end-of-the-world predictions are not new. The first end-of-the-world prediction was traced all the way back to 2,500BC.

Although Buddha supported the ordaining of female disciples, discrimination against Buddhist nuns (bhikkhunis) "can be found in nearly all countries," per a Tuesday article in The Korea Times. Some Buddhist nuns are responding to the pressure against them by banding together to find strength in numbers. Other female leaders of faith are also joining forces across religious lines and geographical boundaries.

Jonas Hagg, formerly the private chef of celebrities such as Rod Stewart and Ivana Trump, was inspired to feed the homeless in a South Florida public park, until he was told on September 11 to either close his soup kitchen or apply for a permit and pay $150 a day to rent the park pavilion.
