There are minor variations among the four Gospels as to the wording of the charge on the placard placed on Jesus' cross. Anyway, the charge probably read "Jesus of Nazaareth, King of the Jews," and each Gospel writer summarized it slightly differently while retaining the basic point. A placard noting the prisoner's name and offense often accompanied those condemned to death by the Romans. So, what do you believe might have really been written on the placard if each Gospel writer worded it differently? Why doesn't the Gospels mention the names and offenses of the two thugs [aka criminals] who were crucified with Jesus?
