About Me:I was born on Rathlin Island and lived there until 1999 but I occasionally visit my island home. Rathlin Island is the only inhabitant island off Northern Ireland and has got a population of 100. I was Postmistress on the island until June 1999. I am a member of the 12 step programme which is a wonderful way to practise life one day at a time. When the island children reach the age of eleven they have to go to the mainland for their secondary education and stay during the week and weather permitting get home at the weekends. It was heartbreaking when my three had to leave home at 11 and not 18 as they do on the mainland.
