About Me
I have joined this community because of my interest in the program on NPR "Speaking of Faith" I believe in connecting with all people using faith and religion not as a barrier but as a means of further communication. In general I distrust large religious institutions, including those of my own faith. I do believe in core principles common to so many religions.
I was raised Episcopalian. I really liked all the candles, stained glass, and ceremonies. When I went to college, however, I dropped out. When my daughter died in a car crash in 1988, I never set foot in another church. After a trip to Nepal 7 years ago I joined a local Buddhist temple in the Tibetan lineage. I spent 5 years practicing and studying Buddhism very intensely. I have since dropped out of that organization but still believe in Buddhadharma and meditate when I can.
I am an artist, currently doing oil paintings but I have held art-related jobs in many areas and have made a living selling drawings of the sky and a line of clay art called "clay skies". My walks in the Black Hills and around a local lake continue to inspire me. The art community here is small and comes from the heart.

Down at the lake again. The little swifts are zooming around skimming the water and ground, scooping up insects and making the air...
