Dean, I also love your writing and can relate to the childhood thing. My mom drank, took meds (at the same time). Been there. My addiction? Cats! I ditto the insightful writing comment. Blessings to you and much success :)

Dean, just a note to let you know that you've gotten an entire household hooked on your books. The first one we ever read was The Bad Place which my ex-husband received during the Gulf War circa 1991. Books were a luxury (he was a Marine on the front lines doing recon) and once they were read by everyone in the unit, the books were usually burned because of the extra effort it took to transport them and find a place to store them on their vehicle. He carried your book in his side cargo pocket for three months and gave it to me when he got back. I read it in about 5 hours (on the drive back to his hometown). We've been addicted readers ever since. Now, our 12 year old son is hooked on the Odd Thomas and Frankenstein series. YOU are gifted and an amazingly insightful author. I most enjoy the spiritual aspects of your books, and have enjoyed watching you grow as a writer over the years. I am the daughter of an alcoholic father and relate on a basic level with your childhood experiences. You give me hope. Thank you. God Bless you and Gerda (and Trixie too as she watches over you both!).

I am inspired by your trials & tribulations. Except for the gender issue, your story is somewhat a mirror image of my own, only it was my mother who was the alcoholic paranoid schizophrenic. Childhood was hell. The only way I survived was through God who carried me as in "Footprints in the Sand". I truly admire your perseverance and tenacity. May God truly bless you & Gerda & may Trixie forever watch over you both!

I've been praying for you and Gerda since Trixie went to Heaven. Your writings have been a blessing to me. I recommend them to my friends who are struggling with matters of faith and evil in the world. It has been a delight to note your own spiritual journey and progression by considering several of your books in chronological order. Our whole family loves your books. We've waiting for "Frankie 3" and we know it's been a toughie for you. I suspect you've had a prophetic experience with that series... could that be true? I've been praying for you in that matter as well. God bless you, my brother in Christ. Robyn
