Hey Danny, I caught your comment about the removal of Christ from Chistmas the other day. It reminded me of a poem I wrote a few years back about the same thing. I tried to post it on your wall, however it was too many characters. Hence, this e-mail.
"The Christmas gift"
As we approach this time of year
As Christmas day is drawing near
There's decorations, houses strung
With many lights, from eaves they're hung
The neighborhoods, dressed up so bright
Proclaiming Christmas, every night
There's hustle and there's bustling
There's shopping, presents rustling
People rushing, frantic, scurrying
On the run, excited, hurrying
To be prepared for that one morning
In all of this, Jesus, forlorning
We must respect the brevity
And focus on the Nativity
That's what this season's all about
Salvation's birth, without a doubt
It's what we should be celebrating
Not the presents, concentrating
On the day marked by His birth
Who gave His gift to a dying earth
As we, in turn, give gifts to those
We love, remember, Jesus chose
The cross for us, that we won't perish
No greater gift that we should cherish
So as we give our gifts away
We must remember what this day
Is all about, no other reason
Than Jesus' birth, this is His season
He's the one worth celebrating
His birth should cause us our elating
His life, His death, His risen glory
His gift to us, the Christmas story
