A Salute To Mothers

Mothers come in all sizes and descriptions it's true, But

please know we're thankful for each one of you. Some

have many children, some have only one, But each

mother gave life to a daughter or son. You may feel

neglected and you may be, it's true, But at least for

today we want to thank you.

You not only gave birth but you guided and led,

And you saw that your children were clothed and were

fed. You taught us each night to kneel down and pray,

And things that you told us we remember today. You

may not always be "with it" or dressed all in style,

But my, you are lovely when at us you smile. Some of

you mothers are grandmothers too, So your days for

teaching children are certainly not through. Grandchildren

love grandmothers and need them you see, To love them

and teach them and their friend to be.

Thank God you're a mother and enjoy today, And know

that we mean all the good things we say.

We love you and need you every day of the year, And we're

glad to express it when Mother's Day is here.

We tell God we're thankful for each one of you, But so often

we're neglectful and forget to tell you. So as children or

grandchildren or as husbands too, We say and we mean,

          "MOTHERS, WE LOVE YOU."

Through Me

Through me let there be kind words, a warm smile, and a caring heart.

Through me let there be a willingness to listen and a readiness to  understand.

Through me let there be dependability, steadfastness, trust and  loyalty.

Through me let there be compassion, forgiveness, mercy and love.

Through me let there be every quality I find, O Lord, in Thee.

Enjoy Your Coffee

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit  their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about  stress in work and life.

Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned  with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups – porcelain, plastic,  glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite – telling  them to help themselves to the coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: “If  you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind  the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for  yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.

Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most cases  it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all  of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the  best cups… And then you began eyeing each other’s cups.

Now consider this: Life is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in  society are the cups. The cups are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the  type of cup we have does not define, nor change the quality of Life we live.  Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee God has  provided us.”

God brews the coffee, not the cups……… Enjoy your coffee!

“The happiest people don’t have the best of everything. They just make the  best of everything.” Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly and  bloom where you are planted! Leave the rest to God.

Sin and Lawlessness

Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and

sin is lawlessness. (1 Jn 3:4) Sin is ignoring the Law

of God.We recongnize murder, theft, lying, adultery,

hatred, profanity and all manner of sin exist today.

Isn't it true that the world is in chaos because of sin?

In order for us to acknowledge there is sin in the world,

there must be a law in force that indentifies sin as sin.

The Old and New Testaments agree, "The soul who sins

       shall die...For the wages of sin is death...(Ez 18:20;

Rom 6;23. It's impossible for sin to exist unless there

is a law that defines it.

We can apply this principle to the beginning of time,

when there were only two created persons on the planet.

God instructed Adam and Eve, "You are free to eat from

any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree

of knowledge of good and evil...(Gen 2:16-17).

God warned they would die if they sinned by ignoring

this simple law. Doesn't history record that they ate from

the prohibited tree? And what happen? They suffered

spiritual death immediately and physical death eventually.

       That's the wage of sin!

But if God hadn't laid down the law, they could have

savored the succulent fruit without suffering consequences.

With a law to break, they could not have been guilty of

lawlessness."Sin can't exist unless there is a law in place

       to define it.

Nothing To Fear,

There's nothing to fear --- you're as good as the best, As strong as the mightiest, too. You can win in every battle or test; For there's no one just like you. There's only one you in the world today; So nobody else, you see, Can do your work in as fine a way: You're the only you there'll be !

So face the world, and all life is yours To conquer and love and live: And you'll find the happiness that endures In just the measure you give; There's nothing too good for you to possess, Nor heights where you cannot go: Your power is more than belief or guess --- It is something you have to know.

There is nothing to fear --- you can and you will. For you are the invincible you. Set your foot on the highest hill --- There's nothing you cannot do

A Prayer For Today

Dear Lord, as I arise And bend my knee to pray I ask please place  your guiding hand Upon this busy day

All my yesterdays are said and done Tomorrow may never be But I give  you full reign over this day To make the best of me

May each little word I speak Be filtered through your love May all my  thoughts be connected To the heavenly courts above

And use my feet to take me To where you want me to be Guard my eyes  that they would only See what you want me to see

Give me a heart that longs to show Others the way back home And with  these two hands help me Fashion glory for your throne

From the great expanse of eternity One day is all I can borrow So  help me Lord to take care of today And we’ll talk again tomorrow

Blessed

                     As I start another day,

I am blessed in every way.

You are a haven in which I dwell,

Because of you I’m safe and well.

All the problems men had made

By your hand were made to fade.

If not for you, where would I be?

Thank you Lord for blessing me.

In the name of Christ Jesus.

                                                      Amen
