When the ancient Israelites started compilling their oral heritage into the first written scriptures, scrolls and common literacy were becoming the norm. Even the location of the Chosen People, in the Mid-East, is the spot in the world where writing is said to have been born.
When Christians first started, do you know what was becoming common too? Books. Or "codex" as they called them back then. Is it just me or is it more then councidence that advances in literature and knowledge-keeping occured at the same time God advanced His' cause in religion?
