“We hope vaguely, but dread precisely.”
Paul Valéry
I just wanted to write a short post on how to break the habit of worrying.
Really, worry is more than a habit, it is an addiction. If you don't know how we can get addicted to emotions, I HIGHLY recommend you watch 'What The Bleep Do We Know; you can see it for free here (you'll need to download their player first, but it's free as well).
If you consider yourself to be a person of faith, then please recognize that you can have faith, OR you can worry, but not both. When you worry, you are telling God and / or the Universe that they can't handle your situation, so you need to come up with an answer. When the dust settles, you either trust God *completely* to provide your needs, or not at all.
If you are not a person of faith, then even then you should know that worry won't affect the outcome of the situation, and that makes it even more pointless to torture yourself for nothing!
Worry is just another, and more insidious form of fear. When confronted with the unknown, and all the infinite wonderful possibilities, it is all too easy to pick out the worst possible one and fixate on that.
See, the Law of Attraction teaches us that whatever we focus on, we attract. So if you are focused on negative things with emotional intensity (like worrying) then you are actually bringing all those negative things into your life that much faster.
And even worse, it leaves you feeling bad RIGHT NOW, even before the 'bad' situation has taken place!
I want to invite you to look at things in a new light, to develop a 'positive paranoia'. Start to believe that God and the Universe are on your side and that everything in Creation is conspiring to make you happy; if this is too much of a stretch, then at least resolve to give up worry once and for all, since it will truly never accomplish anything.
Know what you want, focus on the goal, and keep moving forward.
Resolve to put all that negativity behind you, and move forward with bold confidence to the BEST life you can possibly have. Because if God be with you, who can stand against you?
You are great, and I love you!
