Planets in the 1st house

Neptune Rising

I thought it would be fun to learn about and discuss what planets in the 1st house mean. Post the planets you have in the first house and we can talk about what it means.

Whereas
your first house is the window through which you view the world and
through which others receive their first impressions of you, the sign on
the cusp of your first house (your Rising sign) is the particular
tint on the glass of that window, coloring and modifying all energy that
passes into and out of your being. In fact, all of your personality
functions (planetary energies) must eventually emerge through and be
colored by your first house cusp if they are to emerge at all. Planets
in the first house are parts of your self-expression. The more planets
here (except Saturn and Neptune), the more you are involved with putting
out your own energy rather than experiencing that of others, hence the
greater your subjectivity. Thus the sign on your first house cusp
conditions the way you look and how you express yourself.

I have Neptune 1 degree away from my Ascendant. So I have Neptune read in my 1st house!

You're
very receptive to your environment and a psychic sponge. You're also
very permeable to negative energy -- and can find yourself compulsively
drawn to it -- so be aware of soaking up negative energy from other
people. You can go a number of ways with such a strong position of
Neptune: drugs, theater, music, dance, religion, mysticism are some. The
theme is piercing the veil of the material world and going beyond
appearances into universal truth, becoming at-one with the way things
are. Your life can be disoriented and confused until you give up trying
to satisfy yourself and gain some spiritual orientation. Learning to
surrender your ego through such disciplines as meditation, Tai-Chi,
yoga, psycho-drama, or emotionally based psychotherapies would be
centering and helpful. Learning to not react to life emotionally would
also help. You're being asked to sacrifice the personal and what your
separate self wants. You’re also a real charmer, and able to enchant
others and bring them under your spell. You're idealistic, have a strong
imagination, and are able to see and feel the unity behind peoples and
        things.

I am an "empath" or HSP (highly sensitive person) where I experience/feel other's emotions as if they are my own. I am very attracted to yoga and meditation and I am majoring in Psychology at the moment.

I have a very strong imagination and love to read and write and lose myself in new worlds and fantasies (for better or worse). I have always wanted to be an actress but have found myself interested in directing and writing movies recently.

My life has been very disoriented and confused until I started accepting things for what they are in my life and coming to terms with my spirituality.

People often project on me what they want to see or refuse to see in themselves when first meeting me (Neptune conjunct the Ascendant).

I have an ease with first meetings and charming people, it has just come natural to me in my life.

So what planets do you have in your 1st house? I'll look up (if I don't know) what it means and we can all talk about it!

Neptune's spot in the horoscope may show that area of
the life where sacrifices are likely to be necessary. Neptune has to do
with the psychic. Its influences are vague, mystical and dreamlike in
nature. The house that Neptune occupies shows where the higher
spiritual forces may make their presence felt, and where you are
unrealistic sometimes.

First
House
Neptune's placement in the first house indirectly
imposes an influence upon your personality. This placement suggests
that you are susceptible to subliminal influences. You're highly
impressionable and intuitive. There is apt to be a strong reliance on
spiritual qualities. There can be self-delusion associated with this
placement, and often there is a good bit of confusion regarding goals
and proper direction in life. Thus, you may drift in life, and miss or
delay action that should be taken. A lack of definite self-image can,
if you let it, force you to depend on others for support and direction.
Thanks to this placement, you are probably much more psychic than most
people and perhaps much more psychic than you believe yourself to be.

I am 23 and just starting college, it has taken me a long time to sort out what I want to do, my goals, and go for it.
I consider myself psychic in some ways, my dreams often come true and I know what people are going to say before they say it!

Being around a lot of negativity makes me physically ill and I prefer to be around positive people and attitudes.

So lets find out who else has planet(s) in their 1st house!

Wow, you've covered a lot of ground in awareness of yourself (identity) for a young woman. Sorry if that sounds patronising from an almost 50 year old getting to grips with her own identity issues later in life, but I admire your ability to recognise and come to terms with yourself. It's fab!

EDIT: Neptune. having just seen your chart with 7 oppositions you've obviously been able to balance a lot of different energies in your life.....long may it continue.

I would love your help and insight as this is new to me and I'm struggling a bit with my first house issues as it all seems so complex so I'm getting a bit tied up in knots. First the astro bit...

Ascendant is Capricorn (17Cp33). I also have Saturn at 3Cp07. (12th house)

Sun, Mercury, Venus and Chiron in 1st House. It's my Chiron Return now and I've learned that having so many personal planets in my 1st house means I have a lot to work out and heal.

Venus (3Pi42) is opposed by Pluto in Virgo which appears to account for my issues with my "feminine" side as my masculine traits are overdeveloped (see my post on father/daughter relationship)

Neptune is in Scorpio (6Sc57 - in my 9th House) conj my Midheaven at 23Sc52 on the cusp of my 10th house which appears to account for my constant change of career, 4 times so far from Pastry Chef to Computers to Finance and then Real Estate. I'm currently not working but feel I'm going to have another change in my career but I haven't identified as yet which direction this will be in. It appears that I have to work out some things first before the lights go on to illuminate my path. Also get the feeling that I need to give something back to help others.

Neptune is also conjunct Jupiter at 29Sc10 (10th house) opposing Mars at 26Ta58 (4th house). Not sure what that means so you may be able to shed some light on that one.

Also of course, Pluto is currently hovering around nearby but not quite on my Ascendant about to go direct again and then move into Capricorn. I think you also have Capricorn Rising and so has Rob so I would be interested to have any comments about how that may manifest in our lives. There is a post from Pat and Neith at realastrologers.com in answer to a 1st house question that covers this transit and may be of interest to you.

I wish you all the best with your college course. What are you studying?

Hi Neptune Rising,

Yeah, I could really use some help with this one since I don't have any planets in my 1st house.

The only thing that I have in reguards to my 1st house is My rising sign "Virgo" which is 14.11 degrees on the cusp of my 1st house.

If there are no planets in my 1st house what does that mean?

Good luck with your college courses!

Hi meland, an empty 1st house usually means that you have an uncluttered personality that is true to the sign of Virgo.  You look like a Virgo and act like a Virgo.  The key is your ruling planet Mercury, how strong it is, and in the sign and the house it is placed.  Those vagaries will modify the Virgo character.

Hi Rossa, the planets Mercury, Sun, and Venus in your first house may explain the some of the several occupational experiences you have had.  But I suspect your Scorpio MC and the ruler Pluto, which is afflicted, and its co-ruler Mars, being opposed to the MC, has more to do with your career changes.

Thanks for that Kapper.

Most of my work has been in customer service and I'm strong on communication, verbal and written. After all why use a sentence when a paragraph will do...LOL

Guess that's the Mercury influence. Mind you only passed one exam at school but at least it was in English Language !! And computers is a very Aquarian trait - see I'm starting to look like my chart already.

Hi and thanks Kapper,

I'm not sure what it means by having an uncluttered personality? Lol .. Is this a good or a bad thing?

My Sun Sign is Scoripo.

My Sun is 4.39 degrees in Scoripo in the 2nd house.

As far as my ruling planet Mercury .... it is also in my 2nd house and the sign is 7.22 degrees in Scorpio.

The cusp of my 2nd house is 8.59 degrees in Libra

Again, I don't have a clue what it means by having an uncluttered personality or to modify my Virgo character? Can you tell me how much does this modify my Virgo character and is it a good thing ... or bad?? Undecided

Neptune Rising,

Like you I have Neptune (retrograde) in my first house...very close to my rising sign 23 degrees. I also have neptune conjunct ascendant which my astrologer says I have to be careful of addictions (I am in recovery) and I don't always see things clearly.

Thanks for sharing that about Neptune...I can completely relate.

Tracey

P.S. HSP...I have the books about this!

I have Pluto in my 1st House (Virgo Ascendant).  When I lerned a bit about what this represents astrologically, it helped answer one of those lifelong mysteries that tended to baffle me.  I was always told by my friends that at first I seemed very unapproachable, almost a bit intimidating, but once they got to know me and got through that first impression, I was a sweet and friendly guy.  It seems to fit perfectly with a 1st House Pluto, since Pluto is such an intense planet (well, if one considers death, rebirth and transformation intense.  LOL).  That's peoples' first impression of me, and not always the most approachable energy.  It has helped me to realize what this can come off like to other people, as I know in group settings I'm often seen as unapproachable, but once I make the effort to reach out to people, they see beyond that initial intensity.
