Hello All, I'm following up with a request from David to have us newbies make our presence know:) My name is Karl. My main artistic expression is carving my version of the Aboriginal didgeridoo from hardwoods from my local area. The didgeridoo is a musical instrument, which is essentially a hollow tree branch. I often paint my didges with designs and hence my secondary expression of painting. I'm a liberal Christian, but have a rather Sufi-istic view of the arts: the arts are a pathway to God. I'm also a musician and have recorded my music a fair amount. A few samples of my didges, art, and music can be found on my profile. I look forward to getting to know you all, contributing if I can, and learning a whole lot. Best regards Karl |

Hello Everyone, My name is Cheryl.Thank you for the group invite. My creative outlet is drawing ,painting and I've found a new outlet in writing.I have gotten to the point that I'm drawing what I see in everyday life(much like a writer uses everyday life for inspiration.)I'm trying to do a drawing every couple of days now instead of going for months at a time with nothing.I have done a few oil paintings from photos(a barn and a house)I use just about anything that inspires me and to me when I draw from memory it's like I take a picture, store it in my brain and pull it out later .I also like to draw I guess you'd call it abstract art ,circles in circles, and different shapes.I just love to draw and manipulate color.Once again, thank you for accepting me in to your group.I look forward to learning and contributing. Thank you , Cheryl3

Hello, my name is Susan. They say everything happens for a reason, even if some reasons seem truly incomprehensible. I believe this with my whole heart and soul. For years I worked in a clerical setting, totally shut off, artistically. Although, I tried to bring it out with humor and hiijinks to bring joy into this apathetic enviroment, my heart was not in the job. My body let me know this my totally shutting down physically, and emotionally. It has been a long road back to the person I know I am destined to be. I have made alot of headway these past several months. Wrote more meaningful poetry, than I ever produced before. It sometimes takes tragedy, to find the path you were destined to take. Besides writing, I know I want to work with my hands and my mind. Through massage and reiki healing I plan to let my hands be the performer and heal people. I am very thankful there is a place to share our artistic endeavors, and to inspire one another on the pursuit creating our zones! Love & Light, Susan aka Mali66 |

Welcome all, I am sure the growth of this group is in part due to David's gentle but sure leadership. Mali 66 I write poetry too and am moved by what you said as my own experience unhappily parallels yours. What you said was so true, and wise. Thank you. |

Thanks for the compliment, Indep! The wisdom, comes and goes...LOL! First I need to heal within, so I can help others, get to the same juncture. I need to know how it feels to be a healed woman. For what it's worth, your welcome! I am not safe on high surfaces...terrible balance issues...LOL! Love & Light, Susan |

Dear Creative new friends, I am so glad to be on this journey with you as we all work on transforming our lives through our art. I am a textile artist working mainly through quilting but also involved with knitting, embroidery and most recently with fabric dying and photography on fabric. I make banners and vestments for churches as well as keep my three kids creative in our projects together. (All three knit, quilt, paint do photograghy and cook and by the way two are boys) I have a degree in fashion and once studied at the Royal School of Needlework in London. I feel ashamed for having had the training and then no guts to persue my work. I've worked for a year regaining my creative self and studying the connection between spirituality and creativity. Susan I so understand what you are going through, I too am looking to become a healed woman. (Watch out world, we're coming out soon! Right?!) Be of good cheer, be brave and go forth to create! Blessings, MelissaB |

Your words have created a balm to heal the stress of the day. Thank you MelissaB, I needed that! My aunt used crochet. Back in the day, she tried teaching me. I created a beautiful ten mile long chain! Suffice to say, I will stick with writing! Keep finding that creative self you bottled for awhile. I bet you will end up a better artist now, cause their is a drive in you, to separate yourself from mother/wife/significant other, to artist/fashionguru/photographer! Go forth and prosper...hehehe! Love & Light, Susan |

Hello- My name is Leslie. I was attracted to this group by the mandala design that is its logo. I have seen this, and other works of Phototransformation's before, and admired them. I was formally trained, as a graphic designer, but worked for only a year in the graphics field. I found most of the individuals I met during that time to be quite shallow and their aggressiveness was very repulsive to me. Since then, I have used my creative skills in several areas, as an independent artist. I designed and sold jewelry in local businesses, and developed an herbal products business, in which I sold products made from herbs I grew in my garden. I sold these, locally, for twelve years. I also continued to draw and paint, for my own pleasure, and I'm currently investigating new techniques and media. My husband also has made a partime living from his artwork, painting signs, with letter and visual images, and, most recently, painting murals. We have a 23 year old son who is in college, and has surpassed the both of us in his creative skills. He works with charcoal drawing. Whenever I need a calm spot in my life that always seems to make sense, I pick up a pencil or brush. Nature is my inspiration, and I am often inspired to create after spending time in the woods, or by the sea. Thank you for the invitation to join the group. I look forward to speaking with all of you. Leslie

Hi Everybody! I'm new too. Thank you for accepting my request for membership. I, too, was inspired by the mandala design logo....although, I think--for me---it was the title of the group that attracted me. Art has been a mode of healing and transformation for my whole life. As a child I would shut myself off from the sickness in my family and just sketch. Cartooning became a satisfying way of self-expression and a very healing outlet. My art continues to serve me in healing, transformative ways. I am attracted to the mediums of watercolor and oil painting. After a profound trip to India, words could not express my experience and I painted many of the beautiful temples in that country. I have enjoyed reading about everyone's experiences with art--writing and music--and hope to open more doors, gain inspiration....and share with you. Happiness to all of you wonderful creative people!! :) Victoria |
