Once, I could not understand people who opted to remain unchurched. But now, I understand. Organized religion should be about improving people, and their attitudes and behavior, and uplifting them. But sadly, it often makes them worse, and I for one get depressed over it. Seeing how ugly the behavior of church leaders often is, I find myself questioning how many people really believe what they profess, and what rational basis there is for theisic beliefs in the first place (a question I've always had, but find to be more of a focus these days). I do acknowledge the richness of theistic traditions, and I'd hate to see them wither; there's something of value here. But the treasure is held in earthen vessels ...sometimes really ugly earthen vessels.
I agree with your opinion about creation. An atheist or agnostic can find more evidence around them to believe in creation much more so than evolution. The constellations that are drawn on cave walls from thousands of years ago havent changed their relative position to each other or this planet. A dog is still a dog, and a horse is still a horse. AND...a horse is a horse in ANY language. Ask an evolutionist to explain that. Not to mention the human remains that have been found alongside dinosaur bones, and the boat 15000 feet up the side of mount ararat in Turkey. I could go on and on. GOD Bless you.
