my name is amy. i'm a teacher of smallish children and also an aspiring writer. i am married, with 1 cute and totally neurotic cat, and we are expecting our first child in October 2008.
i grew up in the presbyterian (USA) church, but spent many years lost in the spiritual wilderness before i finally realized: you know what? i don't think i have to choose. and so, i've become sort of what elizabeth gilbert (author of eat, pray, love) has described herself as being: a cherry picker of religions. if it makes sense (to me), is based on loving thoughts and compassionate ideals, then i'll usually stick it in my basket. however, most of the time i simply follow the teachings and wisdoms of jesus of nazareth and buddha--i love them both, and since i totally think you can combine religions (cherry picking :-)!), will tell people i am a "buddhistian" when asked what faith i am. which is kind of a rude question to ask someone right out of the blue for no apparent reason, but it has happened to me before.
i have a website--you can visit that HERE. i also maintain a blog that i update weekishly, sometimes more (depending on my energy level/mood) with whatever is on my mind in that moment, be it religion, writing, children, or just life's oddities in general...you can visit that HERE.
