About Me:
I'm 28, from Europe and of a multicultural background. I speak German, Italian and English. I have a great passion for writing, history and the arts. I enjoy writing books, stories and poems. Generally I prefer poetry that rhymes and has a valid argument or is simply beautiful and eloquent. As for essays and articles I think they should be thought provoking, persuasive and analytical. As far as books and stories go I write pretty much anything as long as it captures the spirit, imagination and mood of the reader. If it is suspense that they are looking for then the writer must give it to them. I currently work as a Graphic Artist and Web Designer, which I like for two reasons: flexible hours and the need for creative imput. I'm partial to all areas of History; World, Art, Music, Archaeology and Architecture alike. I'm particularly fascinated by Ancient History, The Renaissance Period, The 18th Century and The Mid 20th Century (20s-60s). The arts I enjoy are The theatre, Dance and all forms of creative expression. I also find some aspects of science to be rather fascinating, in particular Biology, Genetics, Genealogy and Forensic Science. I joined Beliefnet, because I've always had a keen interest in World Religions and Cultural Studies which is primarily driven by my passion for learning. I feel that a person can never know enough. We learn more everyday and we should never set limits on the knowledge we can attain from others and the world around us nor should we set limits on who we are as individuals due to the pressures of society or religion. The only thing that qualifies a person to claim superiority to another is his/her level of intellect and what he/she does with that intellect, regardless of wealth, status, gender, race or religion. The crucial thing is to make people think even if they don't agree and listen even if they don't want to hear. I find this site to be thought provoking, in a sense that it peaks one's interest and stimulates the mind, particularly on subjects of great debate. Having said that let me tell you about my faith. I am of the Liberal Jewish faith which differs from Reform Judaism. Liberal Judaism is the growing edge of Judaism. It reverences Jewish tradition, and seeks to preserve all that is good in the Judaism of the past. But it lives in the present. It desires that Judaism shall be an active force for good in the lives of Jewish individuals, families and communities today, and that it shall make its contribution to the betterment of human society. It confronts unflinchingly the challenges of our time, welcomes gladly all advances in human knowledge, and responds constructively to changing circumstances. It values truth above tradition, sincerity above conformity, and human needs above legal technicalities. It is unafraid to engage in dialogue with other streams of Judaism, or with other religions, or with secularism. It is always ready to reconsider, modify and innovate. It is the Judaism of the past in process of becoming the Judaism of the future. I don't mind engaging in meaningful dialogue about faith, history, science or politics. Friendship requests from liberal minded people of all faiths are welcome as well as those of the secular and GLBT community.
"Yes I am a dreamer. A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world."-Oscar Wilde, To Ambrose Bierce, The Wasp, March 31, 1882
"Some men see things as they are and ask why. Others dream things that never were and ask why not."-George Bernard Shaw, Back to Methuselah, Part 1, Act 1, 1921
