I live in a small, rather conservative area(mostly Christian) and I am hoping to meet others who are interested in Holistic Spirituality. I take my beliefs from a variety of sources, "new age" (such as A Course in Miracles) and "old age"(meaning ancient religions such as Buddhism, etc.). I believe that spirituality is a puzzle, and no one religion contains the entire truth. I look for similarities between religions rather than the differences. For instance, do you know that many of Buddha's teachings parallel Jesus'? I am not into dogma, but rather eternal values such as love and being at peace with myself and others. I have attended a metaphysical church for some time, and I believe in their teachings. but it does not go deep enough for me so I have been doing further searching on my own. I am currently taking home courses in Metaphysics and hope to have my own business in teaching and counseling. I also want to write a book on Spirituality and depression. Other things I am interested in is Jungian dream psychology and lucid dreaming, which also fit into my spiritual beliefs.
I like the story of the three blind men and the elephant. It illustrates the fact that different religions show different facets of Spirit, but they are all One. The first blind man feels the trunk of the elephant and says it is like a hose. The second blind man feels the leg and says it is like a tree trunk. The third blind man feels the tail and says it is like a rope. So who is right? You know the answer :) !
