About Me
Hi! I'm Jo.
I've been a member of Beliefnet, and posting in its forums and groups, since 2001. I've made a lot of good friends through the B-net boards and met my Honey here as well. I enjoy discussing a variety of subjects (spiritual, political, religious, relational, comic, etc) with people from all over the world with differing viewpoints. I've grown a lot in the years that I've been posting here.
Let's see. I'm a single professional (law) woman in my late 40's, in a long term long distance relationship. I don't have any kids, but I do have the requisite two cats. I'm very active in my church (lots of committees & groups). I enjoy theatre, concerts, and travel. I'm a frustrated bookworm (no time to read much anymore -- I've resorted to audiobooks during my commute), and an occasional insomniac - I could be here at all sorts of odd hours. : )
My spiritual beliefs? I'm mainline protestant Christian, liberal leaning. I believe I am here to learn to know God, and grow closer to Him, and try to discern what He is calling me to do. I am trying to learn to trust and allow God to act in my life and to stop trying to take control myself. I try to remember to thank God in all things, and to pass on the gifts She has given to me as best I can and as best as I can discern where God wants me to use them. I try to live my faith rather than proselytize. I love the saying attributed to St. Francis of Assisi, "Preach the Gospel daily. If necessary, use words."
